Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21, 1983. She is an American Actress best known as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school after her parents separated to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. She landed her debut role, as Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. In 2002 she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. She was the main character for two seasons and also won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace quit the show in the year 2005, to take on an even more prominent role in films, having appeared in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. In addition, she appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and also starred alongside Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. She reprised her role for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role on Lost for two additional episodes, which included the series final. The actress was featured in 2013's six-season of Californication. She is Faith as a girl who is a muse for the stars, and draws the attention of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She's a Gyllenhaal, the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), she is a bit more senior than Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens she appeared in small roles in the films of her father and co-starred with her older twin brother on Donnie Darko which is a famous cult film. Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for both her performances as the main character actress in Secretary (2002), which is an erotic romantic drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). The actress received a nomination from The Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she starred in numerous commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However the role she played in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). Nominated to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress due to her part as Rachel Dawes in Crazy Heart, (2009). After that she continued to star in comedies and dramas like Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Won't Back Down (12). Other roles she has played include a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in the film Frank (2014) and The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal debuted as a writer and director in 2021, with the psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
